Diploma of Youth Work

The CHC50421 Diploma of Youth Work offered by Skills Generation (RTO 41008) is designed for individuals looking to advance their careers in youth services. This qualification will equip learners with the knowledge and competencies necessary to operate effectively within the youth work sector. Participants will explore key areas such as program development, case management, and the promotion of cultural safety, all while working under a structured supervision framework. Throughout the course, learners will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes 21 units of study, comprising both core and elective components. The program emphasises the development of essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, and relationship building, which are crucial for supporting young people aged 12 to 24. With a focus on practical experience, students are required to complete a minimum of 200 hours of work placement, allowing them to apply their learning in real-world settings. This hands-on approach not only enhances their understanding of youth work but also prepares them for a variety of roles, including case manager, program manager, and youth team leader.

Please note: A minimum of 200 hours mandatory work experience is required for this qualification. Work experience must be undertaken within a community services workspace. Learners who are in full-time employment in community services may be able to meet the work experience requirements through their current role. Talk to our trainer to review your work role prior to commencing the course to see if your workplace can be used to demonstrate the required competencies and satisfy work placement hours. Learners who are not currently employed in a relevant community services organisation will need to find their own work experience placement with an organisation approved by Skills Generation.
