Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (VIC only)

This course provides a thorough understanding of early childhood education, covering key areas such as child development, health and safety, family engagement, program planning, and ethical responsibilities in the field.

With 280 hours of practical work placement at an approved early childhood education centre, students gain hands-on experience and the confidence needed to succeed in real-world settings.

Upon completing this qualification, graduates will be ready to take on roles as early childhood educators in various environments, including childcare centres, kindergartens, and preschools.

Delivery

This course is delivered over 29 Sessions, average duration is 12 months. There are:

– 29 x 5-hour theory sessions (Online or On Campus)
– 2 x Assessor workplace visits and 280 hours of work placement in a regulated childrens’ service
– Recommended 15 hours of self-paced learning per week

Assessments include written and oral questions, projects, and observations of skills.

On completion of this course, you will be awarded a nationally recognised CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification from MCFE.

You will have all the knowledge and confidence, as well as being fully qualified, to take on senior early childhood education and care roles in a variety of early childhood education services such as kindergartens and preschools.
