This CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) is available in Perth and regional WA. It is government-funded through the Jobs and Skills WA program, which applies to eligible WA residents, and is also covered by the WA Government and Commonwealth’s “Free in ’23 – extended into ’24” program, where students who qualify can enrol in eligible courses at no cost. The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support from InterCare Training is ideal for individuals seeking to start or advance their career in the aged care sector, and for those with prior experience in care or community services looking to enhance their skills. Through a combination of online and in-person delivery, this course prepares you to work primarily in residential aged care facilities or homes, following organisational guidelines and service plans. Day or night classes are available.

The course includes 18 units of theoretical and practical education along with 120 hours hands-on work placement in the field, to ensure you graduate with expertise in providing services for individuals with complex needs and managing groups of older adults.

At completion, you will have the foundational knowledge and understanding required to work effectively with older people, know how to carry out activities related to an individualised plan, and the ability work effectively with co-workers and report directly to a supervisor, among other skills and hands-on experience in the aged care field.

This contemporary course is specifically designed to give you all the skills and knowledge required to take on challenges presented in community services roles, as well as the ability to take on more senior and management roles in the sector. You will learn essential skills such as how to analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services, how to develop and implement service programs, how to manage legal and ethical compliance and how to develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management.

The course will allow you to choose an elective specialisation that focuses on one of the important aspects of community work such as drug and alcohol recovery, mental health, disability, youth work or case management. The course also involves 100-120 hours of practical work placement which will allow you to gain crucial practical experience required to hit the ground running once you take on a specific role in the industry.

You have a choice of studying this course online (blended with virtual classes), or by correspondence. Please note that both options still involve the practical work experience component.

Students will gain hands-on experience through fieldwork placements, ensuring they graduate with valuable industry contacts and real-world experience. The course is currently seeking accreditation by the industry peak body, which underscores its commitment to maintaining high standards and relevance in the field.

Throughout the course, students will engage in practical training while also receiving a solid grounding in communication, counselling, and policy theory. The curriculum includes a variety of elective subjects, allowing students to tailor their studies to their specific interests and career goals. The Bachelor of Community Services also emphasises the importance of respectful and effective communication, critical judgement in advocacy, and the implementation of community services competencies within ethical and professional standards. With a requirement of 400 hours of fieldwork placement, students will be well-prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation.

If you’re currently employed in the community services sector and are looking for a way to further your career, then this CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) qualification from GROW Training Group could be the way to go.

Throughout this course, you will acquire the essential skills to effectively manage, coordinate, and/or deliver person-centered services to individuals, groups, and communities. There are a growing number of career opportunities based around advocacy in areas such as family welfare, community health, employment services, and disability services. Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Community Services, you will be well-prepared and fully qualified for a fulfilling career as a case manager.

This course also entails 200 hours of supervised work placement which will have to be completed prior to graduation.

Enrolment period is 24 months. We find our students complete the qualification in varied time frames. It really does depend on your life situation and availability. The program can be completed in a much shorter time – we would recommend aiming at completing 1 unit per month.

This program is delivered in our online learner system. You do not need to come to class, however, you will need to stay connected with your Educator and attend phone and/or web meetings to complete some of the practical components of your course. eLearning allows you the flexibility of completing your course at your own pace, at times to suit work and other life commitments. You can work on your course at anytime, anywhere supported by your industry experienced educator via telephone and email no matter where you are.
